Litowich Law Announces First Oregon State Bar Licensed Paralegal Endorsed in Family Law, Michael Harrington

Michael Pic (1)
Litowich Law is pleased to announce our first Oregon State Bar Licensed Paralegal endorsed in Family Law, Michael Harrington. Michael met the stringent education, experience and exam requirements to become one of the first Oregon State Bar Licensed Paralegals sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court in 2025. The program just began in 2023. In his new role as a Licensed Paralegal in family law, Michael is excited to offer legal services to families in need of legal assistance that wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford to retain legal counsel. Michael will specialize in crafting parenting plans and guiding self-represented clients through the burdensome and stressful process of getting divorced, seeking custody or modifying a co-parenting arrangement. His very personal and actual Oregon court experience with family law gives Michael an empathetic ear to his legal knowledge and his dedication to supporting Oregon families. His desire to make the law easier for families is one he hopes to share with Oregonians in the Willamette Valley. His access to attorneys and knowledge of the family law world will make him an asset to his clients. Litowich Law is excited to offer Michael’s Licensed Paralegal Services to clients seeking limited scope representation in family law matters as well as hourly guidance to self-represented parties in need of legal advice, support with mediation, parenting plan coaching and development, or simply help filling out legal forms. Michael came to Litowich Law in 2021, as a Legal Assistant with a background in film and immigration law. Michael had a knack for many of the intricacies of family law and found he really had a love for the human touch that sets Litowich Law apart from other law firms. Michael knew he wanted to do more to support the firm and to help Oregonians with legal needs. After discovering the licensed paralegal program, he set out to help pioneer the new program at our firm, and is dedicated to ensuring its success. In 2023, the Oregon State Bar created the Oregon State Bar Licensed Paralegal program to help meet the growing civil legal needs of Oregonians. From the OSB website: “Similar to Nurse Practitioners in the medical profession, Licensed Paralegals (LPs) are authorized to perform limited-scope legal tasks previously available only from lawyers. The license is for designated legal work in housing and family law, the two areas of greatest unmet need by Oregonians." Please call our firm today to arrange a consultation with Michael.
