Emily Stith
Emily Stith is an associate attorney at Litowich Law, where she helps clients navigate family law and estate planning matters with clarity, compassion, and practical guidance. Born and raised in Santa Cruz, Emily spent ten years in New England before returning to the West Coast to be closer to family and establish permanent roots. She knew she wanted to become a lawyer from an early age, and her passion for the law stems from a desire to make a positive, lasting impact on her clients’ lives. Many clients seek legal guidance during life-altering transitions, and Emily is committed to helping them navigate those circumstances with grace, understanding, and thoughtful advice. Emily believes that a lawyer should do more than explain the law or carry out a client’s instructions. A lawyer should listen carefully, understand what the client is truly trying to accomplish, and give honest advice about the available options. That includes considering not only what may be legally possible, but also the likely cost, risk, emotional impact, and real-world consequences of each path. Emily earned her Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law. While in law school, she participated in Willamette’s Immigration Clinic, where she interviewed clients, prepared applications for relief, developed case theories, and appeared as a Friend of the Court. She also earned a Certificate in Health Law and served in leadership roles with Willamette Law and Political Economy and the Immigration Law Association. Before joining Litowich Law, Emily developed experience in legal research, client communication, document preparation, and case management. As a research assistant for a personal injury firm, she examined complex legal questions involving insurance bad faith, product liability, and corporate responsibility. During an externship with SOAR Immigration Legal Services, she researched regulatory developments, assisted asylum applicants, and used her conversational Spanish to help make legal concepts easier to understand. Her earlier work with the Maine Workers’ Compensation Board included client intake, preparation for mediations and hearings, review of medical records, and communication with attorneys, insurance adjusters, and administrative law judges. Emily is a thoughtful and careful advocate who enjoys legal research and takes seriously the effect a lawyer’s work can have on a client’s life. She is comfortable acknowledging uncertainty, asking questions, and doing the work necessary to reach a well-supported conclusion. She approaches professional growth with curiosity, humility, and accountability. Emily was drawn to Litowich Law because of the firm’s commitment to compassionate, solution-oriented representation. She strives to help clients understand their circumstances, evaluate their choices, and make sound decisions that support both their immediate legal needs and their longer-term well-being. Outside of work, Emily enjoys embroidery, spending time with her sister in Portland, and keeping her two cats, Frannie and Hera, out of trouble. She is an avid horror movie fan and has walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain twice, including once with her father and sister.
